It’s been just over 2 months since I embarked on my quest for health with Beachbody.  I shared about my progress after the first 10 days, but failed to do so regularly. There are days when it’s gone well and days when it’s been hard.  But, I’ve stuck to it.

The Plan I’ve Been Following

I’ve followed the exercise routines laid out in the Turbo Jam guidebook.  I started with the beginner month and then moved to the advanced month.  While I began the journey having to do a lot of modifications, I am finding that I modify less and less.  I’ve gone from doing Turbo Sculpt (a workout that helps build lean muscle mass) with no weights to using the 3 lb. weights I have in the house.  And, I’ve started using the hand weights that came with the kit a few times, too.  Although, I do still go low impact on certain moves to avoid hurting my knees!

I have also been drinking Shakeology every day.  The daily schedule for me usually consists of exercising shortly after getting up and then making my shake for breakfast. I started with their regular chocolate version and then switched to the vegan chocolate. My regular ‘diet’ was pretty good overall.  I did become more conscious of what I was consuming and have tracked calories in spurts to make sure I’m staying in a good range.  I also found that my cravings for junk went down significantly after using Shakeology for a few weeks.  I still enjoy a little ‘treat’ here and there, but do not feel like I need to consume a lot to satiate my desire.  I actually had one night where I’d measured out a serving of peanut M&Ms and after having less than half of it set them aside for an apple instead.

60+ Days of Beachbody and What Do I Have to Show for It?

I took my 60 day measurements a little late (closer to the 70 day mark).  I had sneaked onto the scale a few times to check on the current number. And, there were times that I was frustrated that the scale wasn’t going down as quickly as I wanted.  My sponsoring coach with Beachbody was very good about directly me to evaluate how my clothes were fitting rather than what the scale was saying.  My head knew that already, but in this day of so much happening in an instant I was wanting quick results.

I stepped on the scale with a bit of trepidation.  The reward was a number lower than I’d anticipated which put me back into the 160s.  Taking my measurements had me doing double takes as well.  I took some of those measurements (e.g. my hips) four times to make sure I wasn’t doing it wrong!

For those that love to see numbers…

I’m down 3.5 inches in my waist and 3.5 inches in my hips.  The remaining measurements were legs (about 1 inch each), arms (about 0.5 inches each), and neck (0.5 inch.).

The funny thing is that I knew my clothes were fitting looser.  It just hadn’t completely sunk into me how loose some of them had gotten.  One of my favorite jeans is literally trying to fall down around my hips.  All I thought was that the shoes I was wearing didn’t have enough heel to them for the hem to avoid dragging on the ground.  I tried to have a well meaning boy snap a photo really illustrating just how loose they are around the waist, but my loose shirt got in the way! (You have to imagine a line running straight down from the DVD case to cross where my tummy is in the photo below.)

I’m still deciding what I’ll do for my next ‘step.’  I’d love to do the Ultimate Reset offered by Beachbody while I can still purchase decent produce at the store without going broke.  Otherwise, I’m considering a few other options.  ChaLEAN Extreme is a top pick as I really like Chalene’s personality and presentation and want to build up that lean muscle mass a bit more.  However, we might have P90X enter the house so P and I can have a little friendly competition for who can get the better looking abs first.

I can say that having accountability has helped immensely.  I’ve been in a Beachbody Challenge Group on Facebook for the duration.  This is one of the services offered by Coaches with the company to help people reach their fitness goals.  If you are interested in joining one, drop me a line.  I’d love to help you reach your goals and be healthy so you can enjoy life to the fullest!

Disclaimer ~ I am so convinced that this will continue to change my life and want to help others, that I signed up as a Beachbody Coach. If you are interested in learning more, take a visit over at my Beachbody site.  Regular Challenge Groups are forming each month for extra support.
